Obama in the news this Sunday

This Sunday President Obama appeared on 5 different news shows to answer generally weak questions on his agenda to date. During his rallying President Obama took a moment to criticize media as a whole and the "blogosphere" whom he basically called purveyors of lies.

It's funny to the think that a government official, politician, and lawyer would take the moral high ground on bending the truth. It must be the case that our government has never lied to us. That a politician has never gone back on a campaign promise (or supported an organization that promotes evading taxes and prostituting young immigrant women), and that a lawyer doesn't defend a person they know is completly guilty.

Media is now more polarized than I can remember. The "blogosphere" that the President criticized DOES provide a medium for heinous, false statements but it also provides an independent forum for people who seek to provide BOTH sides of the issue.

Mr. President, on this issue you are completely wrong. Just because at this juncture in your Presidency blogs are criticizing you more than supporting you does not make them wrong and you should not seek to devalue their message. A former Clinton media manager said this weekend that you have had 2 to 3 times the media exposure of Bush or Clinton at this point in their presidencies. In most of these situations you have had either no questions or weak ones posed to you.

You promote a Cap and Trade that is going to raise prices for the regular American yet help marginally at best with global warming. You promote a Health Bill that the majority of Americans oppose. You passed a ridiculously expensive stimulus package which 8 out 10 economists say has had little or no impact (completely contrary to what your office says).

If anything, Mr. President, the bloggers and webmasters seek to balance the playing field.
