Cap and Trade dying? An inconvenient problem for Al Gore

I am so happy with the Democratic party today. Faced with waning support for their party as a result of the economy and other unpopular moves; the Dems have finally put aside their agendas and done whats right for the country. Politico.com reports today that several prominent Dems have lobbied the White House to refrain from pushing any Cap and Trade bills in 2010. This bill would have imposed tariffs on companies that exceed the carbon footprint allotted for a company of a particular size. This was a bill aimed particularly at energy companies and would have forced them to either "Go Green" or pay hefty fines. Either way who ends up paying but the consumer? This particular moment in our history is hardly the right time to impose added financial burden on Americans. Especially for something we use every moment of our day.

The reason I was against this bill is because 1) it really does nothing to improve our situation with the environment. The US already has some of the most strict environmental guidelines and without China or India cooperating it makes no difference what we do 2) We have to pay for the stimulus, we have to pay for healthcare for everyone, and now extra taxes would be imposed on our energy? It is not the time 3) The people that stand to gain from this are hypocrites like Al Gore, or mega billionaires like Warren Buffet whom have established companies that will allow them to make millions or billions by selling carbon offset.

Now what we have to examine is what prompted this move? Was it the widespread fraud reported in Europe's version of Cap and Trade or was it simply that passing three unpopular bills before mid term elections would have sealed the fate of the Democrats? Was it the recent scandal prominent Democrat Al Gore has been involved in? Either way, I am happy that they are taking steps to eliminate this energy tax. As I have stated before I will be fair on this blog and this is a move that I whole heartedly agree with.

Stimulus Money

I found an interesting article on www.foxnews.com yesterday. It turns out that stimulus money went to twice as many Democratic districts as did Republican districts. Also, there was no correlation between the income or job losses to the areas that received money. In fact, the article states that higher income areas received more money than low income areas.

Just interesting tid bits of information. I'm not necessarily implying that the money went to donors in the congressperson's district. That couldn't possibly be true considering the high moral ground the Dems take. Especially after how hard Obama has gone after lobbyists, earmarks, and oh yeah, Republicans for doing the same thing.

Democrat Destruction

I just wanted to recap some of the years most memorable moments. By the way I apologize to my followers for the extended leave but school and work were taking up a great deal of my time.

Some of the incredible Democrat debacles of the year:

Cap and Trade passes the house - A bill that makes all the current energy we use more expensive to the middle class tax payer. It establishes a carbon footprint for every company and after they exceed that number they get taxed, that means WE get taxed. Meanwhile people like Warren Buffet buy controlling stakes in railroads (who have the lowest carbon footprint/cubic ton moved) to sell the carbon offset to others. That means he gets more rich. Ironic that Warren Buffet has advised Obama?

Dem "Green Agenda" - Led by former Vice President Al Gore who got a Noble Prize for his documentary. Turns out the data was faked and that in fact Al Gore's statement that in a few years there would be no ice left in the polar caps was not based on any scientific evidence. Meanwhile he got rich. Oh, not to mention that his house, houseboat, and the jets he uses to usher him around leave quite a large carbon footprint of their own.

Awarding the Noble Peace Prize to Obama - Ridiculous. He hasn't done anything of worth. Awarding the peace prize to him shows how politically motivated that awarding process has become and undermines the whole meaning Alfred Noble first gave to it. Not to mention it demotivates the people who really are making efforts to improve our world.

Stalling on Afghanistan - Instead of taking a Generals advice the all knowing and all perfect Obama decided his version of the troop surge would be best and at his time table. He sends less troops than McChrystal asked for 2.5 months after it was suggested. Meanwhile insurgents organize and American troops die.

Health care Reform - The true Dem version of this bill is in shambles. Another testament to how ridiculous it was in the first place. Hopefully the Senators have some more sense than the House and don't pass it.

Expanding the Deficit Ceiling - The Dems voted to allow another $1.1 Trillion to be used to pay our bills. Money that we don't have. Money that we have to borrow from China, putting us further into their pockets.

Job Creation - Every time the Dems and the Fed comes out and says the recession is ending and jobs are picking up within we get huge job losses reported within two weeks. Doesn't seem like the road repair jobs our President and Congress created are helping much. Mind you, this is during the Christmas season when companies hire many employees for the season. Then again, job numbers should be seasonally adjusted.

Caulking is "Sexy" - Yes, this was a recent quote by our President as he spoke in Home Depot about tax cuts for caulking your house and installing a new "Green" Air Conditioning unit. Now we are creating caulking and A/C installation jobs to save the country. This while we cut defense programs employing hundreds of thousands of high paid employees. The same programs that help defend our nation against future threats.

Copenhagen Climate Summit - President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, 20 other members of Congress and their private entourages all flew to Copenhagen to show how important the climate talks were to the U.S. By the way, they flew in private Air Force jets and were picked up by limos. All this while committing $100 Billion a year to poor countries for them to become more "green". $100 Billion that we will have to borrow and will eventually pay through our taxes.

Beer Summit - Do you really think our President needs to get involved in a misunderstanding between a black professor and a cop? How many whites, Latinos, and blacks are stopped everyday and then let go because they are profiled. I guess it pays to be our President's friend.

Socialist "Czars" - I guess some of us have forgotten about the socialist czars Obama has appointed to positions whom later had to resign. People like Van Jones? I could go on if you like.

The only good thing is that the President's job approval has plummeted at a rate faster than any other President in his first term. This is dating back to the 1930's! For those of you that hated Bush: Yes, even fast than Bush. As a matter of fact Bush Jr had a much higher approval rating than Obama in his first year.

I don't know if America is waking up or if we are seeing this President, his Cabinet, and this Congress for what it's worth. A bunch of hard line liberals who want to redistribute the wealth America's elite and middle class have secured. All I know is that every time I see the President on TV, which is pretty much everyday, I turn away. The conversation next to me about someones daily drama is more interesting than what he has to say.
